BLOCK
37 - VIEWS OF CHICAGO
CHICAGO'S
"EMPTY" SPACE

Chicago's
nearly empty square-block space, located in the heart of the city's loop
is both loved and hated,
depending
on which side of the fence your on. Developers, politicians in general,
and tax collectors tend to favor
filling
the void. Preservationists (who already mourn the architectural losses),
many lunchtime wanderers, tourists,
and
others may favor leaving the square block bounded by State, Randolph, Washington
and Dearborn streets
empty,
affectionately or deridingly known as Block 37.
The
purpose of this site is not to enter the fray but simply exhibit a few panoramic
views of the site that I was able to grab prior to the demolition. The
views were made with my home-built "Delineator" pan camera; the negatives
of which are 10x20 and 12x20 inches. These views can be used for commercial
purposes [ex. publishing, display, including 1st generation enlargements
etc]
with
proper written permission and in appropriate cases, fees paid.
The
site contains small images.
A
press on some photos will bring up a much larger image ( link outline)
though
still not high quality (for obvious pirate reasons).
