SHOWS  VERSION OF THE WINGED WHEEL MOTORCYCLE  DIVISION PATCH WORN ON  SHIRT. ANOTHER MORE  FORMAL PATCH APPEARSTO  HAVE BEEN WORN ON  DRESS JACKET UNIFORM.

AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THE ABOVE PHOTO, ARCHER AVENUE IN THE 40'S & 50'S WAS A STREET OF GRANITE PAVERS AND OLD STREETCAR RAILS.  RIDING A MOTOCYCLE  IN WET WEATHER WAS A CHALLENGE.

JOE TOOK SEVERAL SPILLS UNDER THOSE CONDITIONS, ONE OF WHICH WORE THE METAL FRONT WHEEL FOOT REST ABOUT HALFWAY THROUGH BEFORE THE BIKE STOPPED.

THE SPARKS WERE FLYING HE SAID, AND ITS THE ONLY THING THAT SAVED HIS LEG FROM BECOMING PART OF THE PAVEMENT.
