In
recent years a number of people including historians have attempted to learn
more about Eastern-based portrait photographer Henry H. Pierce, aka, H.H.
Pierce (1864-1943). One photo historian in particular, the late Peter
Palmquist of California, figuratively wrung his hands in disappointment over
not being able to even gather the basic facts on this now obscure photographer.
Little did Peter know that Pierce's daughter lived in California since
1946. Now many members of the family have been located and information on
the family and H.H. himself will be forthcoming on these pages.
Although
it will provide a base on the working life of
Pierce,
the task remains to accumulate archive
material/images
that pertain to his working life in
general.
It is hoped that others will partake of this
opportunity
to add to this archive on what is believed to
be
a rather notable character in the American
photographic
field.
