PLAZA DE LA REPUBLICA, MONUMENTO A LA REVOLUCION
BY THOMAS YANUL  - PAGE 4

A MODERN VIEW OF PLAZA DE LA  REPUBLICA, VIEW LOOKING E.SE.
THE MAP, RIGHT, 1919 - MADE BY THE BRITISH ARMY- NOT CERTAIN WHAT THE DOTTED LINES INDICATE.

IN THE MODERN VIEW, THE LARGE BUILDING WITH RED ROUNDED ROOF ON LEFT SIDE, JUST ABOVE CENTER, IS THE FRONTON MEXICO SOCIAL CLUB, ITS THE SAME AS THE BUILDING SEEN IN THE OLD VIEW TO THE LEFT.
ANY COMMENTS ON THIS WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

IF YOU USE A LITTLE GEOMETRY AND DRAW A LINE OF SIGHT IN THE OLD PHOTO, IT WOULD APPEAR THAT THE HOME WAS LOCATED IN THE CORNER OF THE BLOCK, LOWER RIGHT IN THE NEW PHOTO, WHERE THE COPYRIGHT OF OSCAR RUIZ IS.

I NEED ADDITIONAL OLD VIEWS OF THE PLAZA TO HELP PINPOINT THE LOCATION OF THIS HOUSING BLOCK.
I BELIEVE THE COURTYARD PHOTOS ON THE PREVIOUS PAGE INDICATE THE LIVING QUARTERS ARE AT THE VERY END OF THE ROOFTOP VIEW SHOWN HERE. THE LAST WHITE STAIRCASE ROOF ENTRANCE IN THE DISTANCE.

THE NEGATIVE ENVELOPE WAS MARKED "C. MIRAMON CASA" ITS SIMPLY CONJECTURE, BUT COULD THIS  MATRIARCH BE RELATED TO PRESIDENT MIGUEL MIRAMON ?
TIME WILL TELL....

IN EXAMINING THE ORIGINAL NEGATIVES, ESPECIALLY THE IMAGE ON THE RIGHT, IT APPEARS THERE IS RUBBLE ON THE FAR LEFT, WHERE THE OLD PARLIAMENT BUILDING WAS.  THIS MIGHT DATE THE IMAGES TO ABOUT 1930, GIVE OR TAKE A LITTLE.

PHOTOGRAPHER ALFREDO SALDIVAR COPIED HIS ENGRAVED CALLING CARD. THE ADDRESS IS:

NO CITY, BUT ASSUME MEXICO CITY
I SUSPECT SALDIVAR WAS NOT A PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER BUT A SERIOUS AMATEUR.
